Lenten Devotions

"Matthew 25:44-45"

“Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?” Then he will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.”

Let me have

enough space

beside your foot

to roll on the floor

playing.

Then pick me up

snuggling

eating from your bowl

even if we are both a left a little hungry.

Hope holder, help us remember that in the midst of what seems like to much, You are hungry right here at home. May we make space to feed you. Amen

"Space"

Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he said, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”  He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your  mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”  And he said to him, “You have given the right answer:do this, and you will live.” –Luke 10:25-28

Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of ....

Space...an unfolding continuum

Unexplored, undiscovered, unimagined

Possibilities

Infinite

Sacred.

Space...the final frontier...

Space...room for loving

with heart and mind and soul and strength

Courageous, Outrageous, amazing

Unexplored possibilities

Infinite

Sacred.

Dare to voyage!

Bless and join with us, Spirit of Love, as we seek the stars. Amen

"Wood Stork"

And the crowds asked him (John, called the Baptizer), ‘What then should we do?’ 11In reply he said to them, ‘Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.’   Luke 3:10–11

My tree is bigger yours!

flap, flap flap

Now it’s mine!

No its mine!!!

mine

mine

mine

Hey we have lots of space! This tree is ours.

The woodstorks agree and rest for a moment. Then….

My nest is bigger than yours!

squawk, squawk, squawk

Give me that stick!

No, it’s mine!

mine

mine

mine

Lookout, here they come!

Screech, screech, screech

Keep the herons out!

Push the anhinga’s away!

No egrets allowed!

ours

ours

ours

United at last.

Holy One, help us stop flapping and squawking and screeching so that we may open our hands and hearts to share with all…even the egrets, anhingas and herons in our lives. Amen

“Night Heron”

The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

--Mark 12:31

Where will I go

when the marshes die?

When oil covers the sand

smothers the grass

kills the snails, minnows and snakes?

What will I eat when the crabs are gone?

and the sludge lies like a blanket of death

on my dining room table?

Where will I go to eat and drink and be merry...

or simply live another day?

I weep for what is lost

and

 what will come.

Please make space for me!

Lover of us all, may we seek each day to mend our broken world so that there is vital, open space for all all creatures great and small.
